"RODERICH!" You pushed your way through busy airport crowd as soon as you caught sight of the familiar chocolate, brown hair; you've come to love.
Turning at the call of his name, the Austrian stopped to look behind him but was greeted with his childhood friend pouncing onto his back. "Hey! It's been forever! I missed you!"
"[___]," Roderich let out an irritable sigh, "get off. We're in an airport, at least act a little decent."
Pouting, you slid off and landed on your feet. "That's no way to greet a friend!" You puffed out your cheeks a little bit and added a playful frown. Roderich blushed and looked away at the sight of how cute you were acting.
"Whatever, let's just get going, okay?" He grabbed your hand and began to lead the two of you out of the airport. Your eyebrows rose when he took your hand and you smiled when you peeked over at his face and saw how red it had grown.
Roderich Edelstein was your best friend from childhood; he was one of those introverted kids that got picked on a lot. You were the first one to introduce yourself to him and actually talk to him. Since then, you two have stuck together like glue. But Roderich's family came from Austria and at the end of his middle school years, they moved back. Separating you guys for four years.
You knew he's always had a major stick up his ass since time began. But that didn't stop you from falling head over heels in love with him. Even as a small child, you always thought he was the cutest. From his lush, dark brown hair with a single strand curling up, the beauty mark bestowed just underneath his lip, to his lovely, amethyst irises. In short, Roderich had grown into looking like a male model.
Stepping out of the airport with your luggage, you wait for Roderich to drive around with his car. You stood in awe at your surroundings, this was your first time visiting Austria and you never knew it for being such a pretty nation.
"[___], what're you doing? Get in the car already." Roderich said while loading the automobile, snapping you out of your trance.
"[___], what're you doing? Get in the car already." You replied, mimicking him in a voice way too high pitched to be his own while climbing into the car, Roderich followed shortly.
Pressing yourself up against the window, you resumed gawking at the sight of a completely new place. 'It's so pretty here
' you thought.
"Ja, well, this is Austria. Nothing special really, but I take you it you like it."
You nodded enthusiastically; overjoyed at the fact you were going to be spending an entire weekend in such a place.
As soon as you arrived at Roderich's cozy home, you made sure to be quick with unpacking. Roderich waited patiently out on the front porch.
"Are you done unpacking, [___]?" Roderich turned with around a bored expression, clearly unimpressed with your mischief ways.
"Geez, Roddy, you've become so not fun nowadays
His face lit up into a faint shade of red, "O-only address me with my name! Roderich! Not
'Roddy'!" You laughed at his flustered reaction and strolled off back towards the car.
"Wait, [___]," quickly grabbing your wrist, Roderich directed you in the direction down the sidewalk, "we're gonna walk around today. If that's okay?"
"Sure thing, I've been sitting too much today anyway."
You two made your way down the sidewalk, getting closer and closer to the small town Roderich has become well acquainted with. Still hand in hand, anybody would mistake you guys as a couple, the thought made you blush a little but you brushed it off.
The rest of the day you two window-shopped and walked, chatting idly and having fun. As the day winded down, you guys entered a small clothing shop that had a full rack of ridiculous hats, as if it were Lady Gaga's goodwill.
"Here, Roddy, I think this one would look good on you." You grabbed a plastic, white fedora that had stripes all over it and a feather dangling off the side and placed it on Roderich's head.
He glanced at a mirror and cocked an eyebrow, "I don't know [___], I don't think this look is right for me." His voice sounded serious but that was no surprise since you already knew he was a rather fashionable, or as he called it, classy , gentlemen.
You attempted to keep a straight face with much difficulty, "Uh huh, I think you're right too. Maybe a more aerodynamic hat would suit you better."
Roderich turned and squinted at you, figuring out that you were poking fun at his seriousness. You grinned and excused yourself, walking over towards the back of the store, only browsing.
"Hallo, kann ich Ihnen helfen?" You looked up and were met face to face with a guy looking about your age. He wore a nametag with Bernhard written on it.
I don't speak German
"Oh, my apologies. You're lucky I speak English then." He smiled and began picking up small chat with what little English he knew. Throughout the conversation, you couldn't help but think he was kind of cute and was most likely flirting with you. 'Too bad I already like somebody else
"[___]? Hey, [___], where did you g-!" Roderich stopped in his tracks when he saw you talking with the employee, his mouth twitched as his usual irritable scowl turned into a malicious glare. "[___]." He said again, this time stepping behind you and placing a hand on your shoulder. "It's starting to get dark, let's head back." His eyes glued to Bernhard's.
You flinched at the harshness laced in his voice, putting his other hand on your other shoulder; Roderich led you out of the building.
"Woah, Roderich. What's up? Why're you so pissed?"
"Don't talk to them." He grumbled, still behind you.
"What? Don't talk to who?"
"Them! Other guys!"
"Why? You're being unreasonable!"
Minutes of hesitation passed before you were pulled you back with great force as Roderich wrapped his arms around you in a tight hug, "Because I-!... I
" His grip tightened, "I love you, [___]." You froze. "And I only want you to look at me."
Silence followed after Roderich's confession. He released you from the embrace and took a step back. "I take it you don't feel the same way." He muttered then turned to leave but was stopped when he felt something grab his hand.
"N-no, you're wrong." You swallowed and looked up at his face, "I-ich liebe dich auch, Roderich." Roderich's eyes widened. "I have for a while now and am so happy you do too." You smiled nervously, "Heh. Yay
And for the first time in ages, Roderich laughed. It was a light and dainty laugh, more of a gentlemen's chuckle, if you will. "Thank God, I was afraid
I was afraid things would be different between us if I confessed. I'm so glad it worked out." And with that, he leaned forward and planted a sweet kiss on your lips. "Danke, [___]."
